Tree Removal…
Q: I have been asked more than once will my Insurance Company pay to remove a tree that may fall on my house.
A: No- the reason being is that a tree that needs to be removed is viewed as ordinary maintenance or pride of ownership. No different than painting your home or replacing a roof that is beyond it’s useful life.
Q: Will my insurance company pay to remove a fallen tree.
A: Yes, However tree removal maybe limited to $1,000 also the cost of removal would have to exceed the policy deductible.
Q: What if a tree falls on my house is it covered.
A: Yes- on a HO-3 or HO-5 Homeowners Insurance Policy a fallen tree is covered.
I have heard the comment in jest that “I’ll just wait for it to fall then.” As illustrated the “downfall” to this method would be you are risking your life or someone else’s. Your Homeowners policy can replace your house but not your life, so make the responsible choice and pay to have the tree removed.
