Workers Compensation Information
Running a business in the Eastern Sierra can leave you with very little time to think about all the logistical things like workers compensation insurance. I've been living in the Eastern Sierra for most of my life, and I love connecting Eastern Sierra business owners with the best policies for their business needs. We always operate under the Golden Rule: if we wouldn't want something as part of our insurance plan, we won't offer it to you.
What is workers comp insurance?
Workers compensation insurance helps companies pay benefits for employees who are injured on the job. Workers compensation laws were created to ensure that employees injured on the job get fixed monetary awards -- this eliminates the need for litigation and creates an easier process for the employee. It also helps control the financial risks for employers since many states limit the amount an injured employee can recover from an employer.
Workers compensation insurance is not health insurance. It's designed specifically for injuries sustained on the job. In most states, you're required to carry workers compensation coverage if you have employees.
Why do you need workers comp insurance?
Employers have a legal responsibility to their employees to make the workplace safe, but accidents can happen even when all safety measures have been taken. Workers compensation protects employers from lawsuits resulting from workplace accidents and provides medical care and compensation for lost income to employees hurt in workplace accidents.
Each state has different laws governing the amount and duration of lost income benefits, the provision of medical and rehabilitation services and how the system is administered.
Workers compensation insurance must be bought as a separate policy. Although in-home business and business owners policies (BOPs) are sold as package policies, they don't include coverage for workers' injuries.
Why choose an independent agent?
Independent insurance agents offer more insurance options with more variety in pricing for customers. Since we work with many different companies, we can usually help you fill all your insurance needs without having to use different agents. We also take the time to figure out what you need and connect you with the best insurance policy. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all with insurance.
