Here’s another chance to get involved and help push wildfire-prevention efforts forward! I’m subscribed to receive updates from the Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project for the USDA Forest Service. You can subscribe to updates here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=61827

Here’s the latest update:

The Proposed Action for the Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project (ESCCRP) is now available for viewing and comment. The project would thin trees in an area around the Town of Mammoth Lakes to improve forest health and reduce the risk of severe wildfire on the Town and surrounding land.

We invite your scoping comments about any concerns, issues, information you may have about the project, and scope of project analysis. Scoping comments would be most useful by November 18th.

The attached letter contains information about the project, how to comment, and who to contact for more information.

The proposed action and the link to provide comments electronically are in the letter, and for quick reference, at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=61827.

There will be two public scoping meetings:

  • Virtual meeting on November 2nd from 10-11:30am

  • In-person meeting on November 3rd from 6-8pm in the Mono Lake Room (2nd floor) of the Civic Center at 1290 Tavern Road, Mammoth Lakes, CA

I support this project and urge the Forest Service to increase its efforts in completing this project ASAP for the health of our town and community. Please share your comments so the Forest Service can make the best decisions for our community.

Let us know if you have any questions.
